What Should I Expect When I Go To Court? Where Do I Go To Court?
No matter what county courthouse you will have to attend, there are a few simple rules of thumb that apply at most courthouses:
No Weapons of Any Kind
No Cellular Devices or Computing Devices (tablet, laptop, etc.)
No Tobacco Products of any kind
No Lighters or anything flammable
Basically, you can bring your ID and your keys and that is about it. Everything else you should lock in your car, or be prepared to have the items confiscated, and returned when you leave the courthouse.
Courthouses in Texas have metal detectors that must be passed through before going to the courtroom. Be prepared to empty your pockets and remove any metal belt buckles when passing through the metal detectors. Be sure to inform officers of any medical reason that you cannot pass through the detectors and request a wand detection instead.
